For those of you who like pike fishing using the measuring board method and for those who would like to give it a try or have a practise before the Lough Ree Pike Festival in april then this will interest you, Lough Gara & District Angling Club will be holding an open pike competition on Lough Gara on Sunday the 25th of March. This is a boat competition and the winning fish is determined by length rather than weight. Each boat must have a digital camera and there must be at least two anglers per boat. Each boat will be given a fish board. Photos from a phone will not be accepted. Entry fee is €30.00 and fishing will begin at 10am until 4:30pm.
