hey john, yes it was lough ree,that fish was very slack couldve been near 7lb if was filled out, no their not always that colour, the colours vary a good bit, the typical cronin would be more popular i suppose, but the 3lb 13oz one was got this yr not far from the inny (saints island to be precise)and im guessing it came from the river, got a few in that area all similar colour and spots etc,
site is cool, and i'm sure the membership will grow!! best of luck with it anyway..
