Some of you may remember an Atlone based angler named Davey Gaffey, Davey was very involved in the setting up of the Lough Ree International Pike Festival but unfortunately shortly after last year's festival Davey passed away suddenly. To honour his contribution and memory the World Cup trophy is to be re-engraved and will now read Lough Ree International Pike Festival - World Cup - in memory of Davey Gaffey.

It has been decided that the overall winner of the festival will win the €3000 only and not the daily prize as well, this will have the effect of spreading the prize money out among more anglers as it will bring another angler into the prize fund. The closing date for entries is Tuesday 10th April though if there are special circumstances the chief steward may decide to take entries after this date.
